Spiritual Checkup

You are a child of God. You are a believer of Jesus Christ. You are a servant of the most High God. You love the Lord, and you want to serve Him effectively.

But have you felt lately that you may have hit the plateau in your Christian walk with God? Are you feeling stuck or in a rut, wanting to grow but something seems to block you from moving forward?

Have you felt like you are going backward, drifting away from your focus on God and the things God wants to accomplish in your life?

It’s time for a check up from the neck up. It's time to have a heart check!

What is the Holy Spirit telling you when you are in the closet praying? How is God’s Spirit revealing to you concerning the condition of your heart and your walk with God? Are you in excellent conditions? Are there any adjustments that need to be made? What is the Great Physician’s diagnosis and prognosis regarding you?

I have found these questions helpful for me, and I would like to share them with you. Maybe we can reflect them together and grow.

Are you busy running your own life, having no time for God? No quiet time where you are able to sit down to read the Word and to reflect and to let God speak to you. Not for idea for your next message or Sunday sermon, but to hear the Lord speaking to your soul and spirit.

Are you just managing to get by with enough programs to keep the church members busy and happy or comfortable enough so you can still keep your “job”?

Have you had time to read books? Leaders are readers. Have you consistently feeding your mind with great and positive thoughts or are you letting the negative things or stuff polluted your mind? Because whatever the man thinks so is he. Garbage in, garbage out. Whatever a man sows he shall reaps.

How is your relationship with your spouse and your children? Is she blessed to be married to you? Are you blessed because you have been their positive role model reflecting the Christ-like presence in your life? Are there any hurt, resentment, bitterness and prolonged pain in your life that block or prevent your relationship from growing strong? When was the last time that you said “I am sorry.” to your spouse or children. When was the last time that you asked someone to forgive you or you have forgiven them?

I hope these are a few intake or check-up questions that can help you get a reality check of your current condition of your heart and the well-being of the spiritual life. I encourage you to listen to the Great Physician and accept His remedy as the answers that you have been looking for. Return to the First Love with Him.

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.”

Pastor Linh
