Delivered from painful Past

On the street of life, I met a man who had nothing much to live for. Nothing is going for him at all. He lost everything recently. Nothing left. Nothing to live for. He tried to end his life many times, but it seemed that every time something else happened or he did not die.

In his final desperation God has caused us to meet and talk. Lo and behold, he knew Christ before; he saw miracles and healing take place many times before. He knew the Scriptures but has forgotten to read God's Word lately.

Things were piling up on him one thing after another; the storms of life just keep coming at him at a faster speed. Too much to bear. Too strong to handle. His mind lost all God's perspective. The truth of the loving and Almighty God and Father seems to escape. He is angry at life, himself and at God for the ways things are in his life. It's not right. It's not fair. This is too much. If God really cares why did he let these things happen to me. Oh, I just want my life to be over. No more. No more trying. No more pain.

Tears strolled down his face as he listened to the Words of God being read to him. He paid attention. He listened more attentively. His focus began to shift from his painful existence to God's permanent love for him; from his pain to God's remedy; from his own negative words that he professed and repeated to hearing the Word and faith began to rise again in his heart.

He realized that he has got to live his life for God. God will see him through. God is true. His love is eternal. His Word is sure. He can stand on God's Word and promises. God will give him strength and power to live a victorious life. He cannot go back to the past and undo it. Whatever already happened happens for a reason, and he just has to trust God who knows what is best for him.

Life must go on. There are people out there that need God's love and compassion. There are hurting people out there, those who have never heard of the Gospel, and he needs to go and tell them about Jesus, how Jesus has saved and delivered him from destruction.

God is good. He provides for his children. He leads and guides them through troublesome times. He is the faithful companion and friend that we can trust and count on. God is good to me all the time. The Word of God is good for my soul, mind and spirit. My body must be healed from all these painful things that I have allowed to attack me. Be healed my body, soul and spirit. My mind is renewed now in Jesus' name.

I left that place knowing I did what the Lord has called me to do, a bridge of love, a signpost that points people back to the Lord God. He is awesome and powerful to save, heal and deliver everyone who comes to Him in the Name of Jesus. Yes! Life is worth living every moment of it until time is no more.
